Pets do gain experience while they're dead, but they do not benefit from scroll buffs. Try setting your pet to the "heel" stance if you do not want him dying all over the place.

Note: the wiki is incorrect in stating that the pets of the party are considered a separate party. Pet experience is divided by the size of the party itself, and the presence or absence of other pets is irrelevant. If you have the only pet in a party of 8, your pet will gain 1/8 the XP that it would have if you went solo. If all members of the party have pets, your pet will still gain 1/8 the solo XP.
No buffs apply to pet XP. Pets do not get benefit from scrolls, boss bonuses, shrine bonuses, the HM bonus, or anything else that increases XP gain. However, pets always gain XP at double the rate that would be calculated for a player or hero at the same level as the pet, excluding bonuses. |
